Our driving plans for 2024 includes a trip through the Black Forest in Germany. We thought we’d share our planned route on Google Maps. Click here to access the map.
The route takes us on a 5:45 hour circuit from our hotel (the historic Hotel Hofgut Sternen) taking in some great roads (based around the infamous B500), some great scenery, and an inviting length of de-restricted autobahn.
The route also offers the chance to visit lots of local sights, including:
Triberger Wasserfälle one of Germany’s highest waterfall (although we think ‘highest’ is similar to every village in France is one of the most beautiful)
The tourist town of Triberg
Lake Mummelsee
Lotharpfad panoramic viewing area
Baden-Baden
We’re looking forward to putting the plan into action!
We’re planning on using Waze for the GPS, so our ‘'pace notes’ (click here) have a list of Waze points that we’ve pre-programmed into the app. Google’s limit of via points (and tendency to offer 100 different options for a route even AFTER you’ve done that) drives us mad. And as for Garmin … the final straw for that came after a map update which broke all of our previously planned routes and sent us off to extensive incorrect detours!
