It took us a while to decide where to set up our new life and business as there are so many beautiful areas of France. There were lots of reasons to settle in Bonhur:

  • it’s far enough South to get better weather than the UK

  • you can drive to us in a day from Calais or Le Havre

  • there are lots of forests, hills and valleys which makes for great driving and scenery

  • it’s a great place to stop if you’re heading for the South of France

  • Bonhur is away from the traffic noise but close enough to the main roads to be easily accessible

  • it’s within driving distance of the major tourist sites of the Dordogne but away from the crowds

  • there are a number of regional airports within driving distance

Situated in the North Dordogne in the middle of Périgord Vert (named after the local green chestnut and oak forests), we are on the border of the Haute-Vienne and Corrèze departments providing plenty of scope for enjoying what each region has to offer. Famous villages such as Brantome and Saint-Jean-de-Cole, and the town of Perigueux in the Périgord Blanc (named after it’s chalk soil) and Château Hautefort, one of the most prestigious in the Dordogne, can all be found a short drive away.

We wanted rural charm, an idyllic country setting …. and we found Bonhur.

A formally harmonious product needs no decoration;
it should be elevated through pure form.
